About Woodstock's

Mike ChewIt was 1977...

when Chuck Woodstock, opened the first Woodstock's Pizza in Corvallis, Oregon.

Chuck and his business partner Mike Chew, with Jeff as their General Manager and co-owner, began with a simple formula that continues to this day. They wanted to create a fun, student-oriented atmosphere, and to offer classic pizzas that surpassed anything they’d tried elsewhere. One of Chuck’s innovations was to put sauce in the folded-over crust. He also insisted on putting more toppings on the pizza than any of his competitors did. Ideally, you should get a taste of every topping in each bite of a Woodstock’s pizza. Sadly, Chuck and Chew passed away in a private plane accident in 1985, but their legacy continues at Woodstock’s.

Woodstock’s Pizza has locations in several California college towns, including San Diego, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Davis, Chico and Santa Cruz. We have won dozens of awards in each of our markets for best pizza. And we create lasting connections with each community with our extensive involvement in local fundraising efforts.

Woodstock’s doesn’t look or feel like a chain because it ISN't.  It's a family of restaurants run by a team of co-owners. The décor is warm, comfortable and genuine. You won’t find any pre-fabricated funkiness,REAL ingredients and you definitely won’t find anything slick or trendy.

Most importantly, Woodstock’s has an unparalleled reputation for excellent pizza. Our loyal customers will tell you it’s the best pizza they’ve ever had. Since the beginning, Woodstock’s has built its success on providing the best pizza in a fun atmosphere.

It’s the details in a Woodstock’s pizza that make it memorable. We start with a better recipe for fresh dough, which is hand-tossed; then we add our secret, spicy sauce; we use only 100 percent real, whole milk mozzarella; and then we top our pizzas with loads of fresh toppings. Each pizza is “made to order,” rather than mass-produced. Woodstock’s also does something unique in the pizza industry – it rolls the dough larger than the size of the pizza pan, applies sauce right out to the edge, and rolls the dough back over the sauce, thereby creating a tasty crust that won’t get left uneaten.

Here’s our suggestion to best assess what makes Woodstock’s special: Talk with anyone you can find who has graduated from SDSU, UCSB, CalPoly San Luis Obispo, UC Davis, or Chico State in the past 15 years and ask them about Woodstock’s Pizza. With our longevity in each location, we now have hundreds of thousands of Woodstock’s graduates who carry positive associations with the Woodstock’s they frequented as college students.
